Basic Photography II – The Photographic Perspective

June 06/07, 2015
Weekend-Workshop (english/german)

Photography enables us to experience the world (and what happens within it) in ever new and often fascinating ways. Seemingly unremarkable things or “banal“ situations can gain in meaning and, through conscious framing, a relationship can be created between two elements which might not have been tangible in reality. From time to time, however, the opposite can also be the case – you want to capture something special but are disppointed if the resulting picture does not succeed in expressing or conveying the things that you had observed with your own eyes.
So, in order to train your personal photographic vision, we will delve into the most important aspects, including picture composition, framing, viewpoint, angle of view, depth of field, focussing, quality of light, colours, shapes.
After viewing and discussing the works of a range of influential artists in the group, you will have the chance to practically apply your newly acquired knowledge and awareness. During excursions in the vicinity, you have a chance to experiment and to develop your own perspective and approach. In the last part of the workshop, we will view, sort (and possibly enhance) and evaluate the results in the group.

What to bring along to the course:
Camera, storage media, batteries and charger, user manual, laptop with an image editing/viewing programme of your choice, e.g. IrfanView (if available).

The workshop will be held in English and German language in a small group of 6 to 10 participants. All interested applicants should apply by email before May 06, 2015.
